Held on Sundays, the bustling Bac Ha Market is one of Northern Vietnam’s biggest markets in Vietnam’s Lao Cai province. Spring is a perfect time to visit the highlands and Bac Ha market, when the cherries are blossoming.

Ban Phiet Market

The Ban Phiet Monday Market is a bustling marketplace located only 40,2 km from Sa Pa. With its rich array of local produce, and colourful handicrafts, it offers a vibrant atmosphere. Sin Cheng Market (wednesdays)

The tuesday Coc Ly Market is located in the tiny village of Coc Ly. located approximately 35 km southwest of Bac Ha, and about 92,4 km from Sapa, taking about 2,5 hours.

This medium-sized market is popular among locals from surrounding hill tribes is mainly Flower Hmong, but also Dzao, Tay, Nung, and Black Dao. Commonly available goods include daily necessities, traditional costumes, textiles, fashion accessories, cattle, and wildlife.

Cao Son Market (wednesdays)

Held on Wednesdays, the vibrant Cao Son Market in the small Cao Son village. The market is a famous bustling hub for Mong, Dao, H’Mong, and Phu La ethnic groups showcasing their rich heritage with traditional attire.

The market is known for its colourful textiles, and diverse array of fresh local produce, traditional foods, and textiles. Along with handcrafted items intricately made by H’Mong and Dao women.

Situated in Lo Suoi Tung, in the Muong Khuong District, it is about 25 km north of Coc Ly. To travel the 76,4 km from Sapa, it will take about 2,5 hours drive. From Bac Ha Market, the 54,1 km is 2 hours drive.

Meo Vac Market

Held on sundays in the heart of Meo Vac Town in Ha Giang province, it is one of the largest markets in Ha Giang province. The interesting market draws visitors on Ha Giang tours as well as locals from the Meo Vac District.

Dong Van Market (sundays)

As one the largest Sunday markets in the north, the Dong Van Market is open from 6.00 AM to 11:00 AM. Besides the locals that flock together on sundays to socialise, others visit to buy and exchange fresh produce, food, textiles and cattle. The market is also popular for hiking, and trekking to ethnic villages, as well as among visitors on the Ha Giang motorbike tours.
